Ahh, sh. Here we go again. Another Grand Theft Auto announcement and another wave of rage from the weary fan base. GTA V still remains as one of the most-played games available, but being a fan of the title is beginning to add wrinkles to your brows, as the developers continue to drag their feet with information about a new title, and any upgrades for new-generation console holders.

Yes, Rockstar Games whet the appetite of fans with their eventual admittance that a sixth instalment of the franchise is on its way, but it's not kept their loyal player base from losing their mind at the prices of the GTA V new-gen upgrades.

GTA Console Upgrade Price Leaves Fans Livid

It's no surprise that a game based on plundering cash from the hoods and heisting heaps of cash from stores would have an adverse effect on their developers, who have now been slammed for their leaked price of the new-gen versions of GTA V.

According to a listing from a Lithuanian retailer, the new-gen GTA V price will be roughly £33 to simply upgrade the game to be compatible with new consoles, namely the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Game Room, a gaming retailer in the European country, has recently uploaded a new-generation GTA V upgrade pre-order, pricing it at a stunning €40, which equates to £33 and $43.50.

Some leaks have also suggested that the €40 pricing is for the story mode alone, with the online game costing another €20.

What Have Fans Said About The GTA V Upgrade Prices?

Taking to Reddit, fans unleashed their fury, in typical fashion, to the comments section. Unsurprisingly angry, one fan slammed the developers as "greedy as f*ck", adding "This game will be 10 years old next year, there's no reason why this upgrade shouldn't be free. Christ."

Other fans looked towards Rockstar's competitors and their cheaper upgrades. "I would have preferred $10 USD like the uncharted legacy of thieves collection," said one user. "The Death Stranding PC Upgrade is also 10 Bucks," another added, with fans agreeing to say "A 4k 60fps patch would be nice. I'd pay $10 for that upgrade."

Many leakers have suggested that the huge 87 GB upgraded game will be available for pre-load as of March 8, ahead of a proposed March 15 launch.

Well, Rockstar has definitely pulled off a Michael, Franklin, and Trevor-esque heist on this one, knowing well and truly that their avid fan base will probably splash out on the upgrade, especially with a new title on the horizon.
