PS5 Users Claim Their Controller's Adaptive Triggers Keep Breaking

Some PlayStation 5 owners have claimed that the controller’s adaptive triggers ‘keep breaking’.

Believe it or not, it’s been a month since the release of the highly-anticipated PlayStation 5. It was incredibly difficult to get your hands on one, with thousands of people being left disappointed as the next-gen console sold out quicker than anyone could have possibly anticipated - including Sony themselves.

However, it seems that some people are having issues with the console, with over 1000 people reporting problems with the controller’s adaptive triggers.

According to GameRant, the triggers are ‘starting to malfunction’ for some players. One player claimed that while they were playing Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the R2 trigger snapped, and as a result, was ‘loose and unresponsive’. Others say that it is becoming less responsive over time.

The reports seem to indicate that the R2 trigger is more likely to have this issue than its L2 counterpart. Luckily, there are some ‘homemade’ fixes that can help the problem. The person who reported the issue after playing Miles Morales appears to have sent back the controller as it was still under warranty.

They wrote: “I just contacted PlayStation Support to request a replacement, as it's still well under warranty (and opening the device would void it, where I live - not all countries have decent consumer laws). You don't have to send your entire system to Sony, only the defective controller. The "repair" process can take between seven to 10 days, with another five for shipping, according to the agent. They should send you an email requesting proof of purchase, and a follow-up message with a pre-paid shipping code valid for up to 30 days, which you just present at the post office (these steps may vary depending on your country/region).”

Hopefully, the problem isn’t as widespread as it appears.
