Beep beep, Richie. It's clear someone over at Overwatch HQ has been watching the It movies because this year's Halloween Terror has a horrifying Roadhog skin. While the mere mention of clowns will cause some people to break out in a cold sweat, the various iterations of Pennywise have given a whole new meaning to coulrophobia (a fear of clowns).

'Tis the season to be spooky, and in that vein, the various developers and publishers are creaking open the crypt with their Halloween-themed events. For Call of Duty, it's Ghostface from ScreamApex Legends has shown off its Monsters Within event, while Fortnite is gearing up for Fortnitemares. Whether Overwatch meant to or not, its Halloween house of horrors is one of the most terrifying.

Why is Roadhog Overwatch's scariest addition?

There's something already creepy about Roadhog. This gluttonous biker that waddles around the battlefield with a vaguely expressionless face, Mako "Roadhog" Rutledge is one of Overwatch's weirdest additions. We could see him getting a Halloween makeover to honour the pig-face mask of the Saw movies, but instead, Blizzard has leaned heavily into our fear of clowns.

The Halloween Terror skins have been revealed, and for some reason, Roadhog is channelling his inner Pennywise. We've got more about how you can dress as your favourite kid-killing entertainer further down, but for now, let's go through the terror of the Twitterverse about the Clown Roadhog skin.

One petrified player wrote, "I do not want to see or acknowledge the existence of clown roadhog", while another added, "My dislike and fear of clowns is making me shiver at Roadhog's new skin". A third simply said, "Hate clowns but roadhog looking cool."

What else is coming to Overwatch Halloween Terror 2021?

The spooky showcase has come like clockwork every October, and in 2021, it's much of the same. Since launch, the reimagined version of Junkrat as mad scientist Dr. Junkenstein has become a staple. Yet again, "Dr. Junkenstein's Revenge" returns as a PvE mode where four of you join forces to take out waves of AI undead.

From October 12 until November 2, you can break open Halloween Terror Loot Boxes and scoop up their rewards like trick or treat candy. There are also weekly challenges that include a Skeleton Genji for Week 1, Zarya's mythological Einherjar armour in Week 2, and the Roadhog skin in Week 3. Elsewhere, there's Coffin Bastion, Draugr Reinhardt, and Vampire Bat Echo.

Clown Rooadhog is clearly the big pull here, and bravo Overwatch, you've done him proud. Either way, we won't be heading down into the sewers of Derry anytime soon.
