NDA Breach Means Battlefield 2042 Will Permanently Ban Players
Battlefield 2042 is starting to really kick into release gear. The game’s technical testing is underway and has opened the doors for a select few to get their hands on the game to make sure it’s ready for launch. As a result, this means there are some fans out there in the wild that have already played Battlefield 2042. Lucky devils.
Naturally, they’ve been asked to keep it on the down-low - details about the gameplay need to remain a secret until the game has officially launched - or they get a dedicated reveal from Ripple Effect Studios. As such, non-disclosure agreements have been dished out. But not everyone’s playing by the rules.
Battlefield 2042 Devs Threaten Account Bans For NDA Breaches
It looks like a few of the game’s tech testers aren’t abiding by their NDAs, as the game’s Lead Community Manager Adam Freeman has been forced to issue a warning to leakers on Twitter. “If you have access this weekend, make sure to read through your invitation email and follow the information provided”, he says. “You’re under NDA for this playtest, so videos, screenshots and streaming from this playtest result in strikes on your channels. Be a good egg.”
He then goes on to issue a threat to leakers that they won’t be able to play the game at all by the time it rolls around if they’re so inclined to reveal anything they see in the test. “Break the rules, expect to lose access to both the technical playtest, future EA tests, and potentially access to 2042 itself when it releases. We’ve already removed plenty of people from the playtest in these past 48 hours, and they won’t be able to play this weekend." Crikey.
When Is Our Next Look At Battlefield 2042?
This might be bad news for leakers and playtesters who are pushing the boundaries of their non-disclosure agreements, but frankly, all it’s done is made us hungry for more info on the game. So what’s our next peek at the game?
The next gameplay reveal could be any day now, but a recent short film revealed a new side to the story of Battlefield, bringing Battlefield 4’s Irish back into the game’s mythos as the captain of a refugee ship. The CGI film debuted on the Battlefield YouTube channel, and set up the narrative of 2042 nicely.
The upcoming shooter looks to be a very exciting one, and with reports we'll get a new Battlefield every two years, this could be the start of a new era. Chances are, we’re unlikely to hear much more about the playtests. After all, we certainly wouldn’t be jumping at the chance to get our accounts blacklisted.
