Following the axing of the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer map, Museum, two more multiplayer maps are now reportedly facing the chopping block amid legal battles.

Having initially been played in the Modern Warfare 2 beta, eyebrows were raised when Museum wasn't included in the full multiplayer maps list. Not all eyebrows, given that it wasn't a map that was likely to hit home as a fan favourite, but some nonetheless.

Now, it appears that Museum was removed for legal reasons, and two more of the original four horsemen could also be expelled.

Modern Warfare 2 Museum Map Reportedly Removed For Legal Reasons

Museum wasn't best-placed in Modern Warfare 2 during the beta run, but only because of its sheer size, and akin to Cold War's Miami, a bit of shaving around the edges would have made it quite a solid place to play guns.

However, it's been noted that the design shows stark similarities to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Following initial trouble with the Marina Bay map and its real-life portrayal, it's now assumed that Museum was pulled from MW2 for copyright or legal issues surrounding Getty.

No word has been offered by Infinity Ward or Activision surrounding its removal, which insinuates that it wasn't axed out of gameplay problems.

Breenburgh Hotel And Crown Raceway Could Also Be Removed From MW2

Crown Raceway was set to be named Marina Bay Grand Prix, after being designed based on the Singaporean Formula 1 circuit. However, it was held back from the beta amid alleged copyright laws. Now, it's supposedly not allowed to be played in the Call of Duty League, thrusting its existence into turmoil.

During some unofficial CDL scrims and community events, players have reportedly been advised against playing Crown Raceway by Activision. "It 's got to be the legal part, surely?" quizzed Minnesota ROKKR player Ben "Bance" Bance.

The same issue has now arisen for Breenburgh Hotel, as it has come to light that the map is based on the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam and Dutch media outlets believe more legal action is coming Activision's way.  According to the publication de Volksrant, hotel manager Roy Tomasson has said, "We don't support games that seem to encourage the use of violence.

"The game in no way reflects our core values and we regret our apparent and unwanted involvement". The hotel is now reported to be considering a lawsuit. So, from a total of 11 maps that have been designed so far, three could be obliterated, and they do appear to be the best-designed layouts so far. Maybe next time, they could design their own maps?
