Those Call of Duty Ghosts fanatics are in for a treat this year, after their constant calls for a remastered title are finally coming somewhat true.

Modern Warfare 3 is set to really celebrate Call of Duty heritage by introducing "throwback seasons", where every different Season of the game will be dedicated to an old title.

Now, it seems like one of these is to be held in honour of Ghosts, as new promotional material gives away a huge clue.

Already, leaks have suggested that Call of Duty 4 will be the first of these throwback seasons with Shipment (much to the distaste of fans) and Countdown being added as multiplayer maps.

Sledgehammer's best title to date, Advanced Warfare, has also been leaked to be among these medley mashups, specifically arriving in Season 3.

Now, eagle-eyed fans have found 'evidence' that Ghosts will be a throwback season too, as the title's logo can be found within a new MW3 poster.

In one of the latest Modern Warfare 3 Campaign teasers, the developers asked fans to "guess the Operator you'll play as first". And while much of the silhouette is too dark to make out, fans have found the Ghosts symbol imprinted on their arm.

While this could easily elude to Ghost, one of Task Force 141's characters, he usually keeps his branding to a mask, rather than logos, leaving the team from Ghosts as the only viable alternative.

What would an MW3 x Ghosts collab mean?

These throwback seasons appear to be designed to celebrate some of the older games that have yet to be remastered or see the light of day in a substantial number of years, and Ghosts is the perfect candidate for this.

The collaboration will likely bring through some maps (hopefully Sovereign and Warhawk), as well as weapons and characters.

It's yet to be seen how Ghosts will impact the campaign or storyline within MW3, but those who have been calling for a Ghosts sequel for years will finally get a slither of this action.
