With an ever-expanding Gunsmith in the current generation of Call of Duty games, one of the main irks is that in order to test attachments and loadouts, you'll need to jump into a meaningless game of Warzone Plunder to see just how effective your medley of metal is. Well, not for much longer...

Having first been rumoured back in April, Modern Warfare 2 is finally getting a firing range option, as confirmed by Captain Price himself.

The range, which originally became iconic in the scene back in the old Modern Warfare 2 days for its Campaign sub-mission and Special Ops re-run, will be reimagined in some capacity this year, allowing players to test out guns and attachments for your in-game experience.

Captain Price Confirms Modern Warfare 2 Firing Range

The firing range, run by General Shepherd and Captain Price is set to return after being confirmed by Barry Sloane, Price's Call of Duty: Mobile voice actor.

Sloane will also be voicing Price for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 title and Warzone: Mobile, adding to his reputability for being in the know for this year's multiplayer experience.

How Will The Modern Warfare 2 Firing Range Work?

It's not yet seen whether the Firing Range will be embedded into the game like in World War II where players can take up target practice while waiting for a lobby, or whether it will be a separate hub that acts like a game mode.

More than likely enough, the range will act similarly to how it did during the first MW trilogy, having targets to shoot on the way around, mimicking actual gun fights rather than just straight-line shooting. That's if Captain Price's classic straplines are to be believed.

The firing range will be a welcome addition given that Modern Warfare 2 is expected to have infinite ways of moulding and 'tuning' your weapon to suit your game style.

Guns up folks, Price has your six.
