Modern Warfare 2 Leaked Guns Are Dividing Opinions
The Vanguard era is nearly over and behind us, praise the lord, and it's quickly becoming that weird phase between Call of Duty annual releases where we begin to find out everything about the game before it's been released. The leaker brigade is out in full force before Modern Warfare 2, and they've started with the weapons.
When it comes to the guns and weapons for Modern Warfare 2, we can expect some that we've seen in the past games to return, given that Call of Duty tends to try and select realistic weaponry that was used during the era that the game was set in.
Much like having the likes of the PPSH, M1 Garand, Colt M1911, and M1 Tommy Gun be available in World War 2 games, many guns of the 'Modern Warfare' era will likely resurface in MW2. Although fans are now divided by the leaked list of weapons...
Modern Warfare 2 Guns Leaked
So far, the ACR, MP5K, MP7, UMP45, SPAS-12, Beretta, Intervention, Browning BLR, RPG-7, and the Combat Knife have all been leaked by reputable people as returning guns from other instalments of Call of Duty, some being staples of their respective games such as the UMP45 and ACR from the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009).
Now, the LACH-9 is also set to be joining the mix, which boasts a very similar design to the MP5. The SMG has been the most popular choice of weapon in both MW 2019, Black Ops Cold War, and Warzone for some time, albeit in different forms.
Now, a selection of fans has begun to be disgruntled about how much content is being pulled from other games, fearing that the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 will lack originality.
Why Are Fans Divided Over Leaked Modern Warfare 2 Guns?
"Anyone else kinda disappointed with how many repeat guns there are?" begged one fan on social media, following the LACH-9 leak. After seeing the gun basically boasting the exact same build as Modern Warfare's MP5, another fan said, "Why is everything reused from MW. I’ve only been regretting my pre-order more and more."
Many fans have feared that the upcoming sequel will be almost a copy-and-paste job of the 2019 title, mixed with a slice of 2009's iconic game.
However, some fans did come to the aid of the developers, defending the re-use of guns that demonstrate warfare in the modern-day. "It's a modern game, and a sequel to a game, almost every gun will be re-used whether from MW2 or MW2019. Get over it. They can't just make new guns as they did with jetpacks because then you guys complain that 'it’s not realistic'," one fan said. "What did you expect? An STG-44?," added another sarcastic fan.
Many other original guns have also been leaked though, such as an MK47 AR, VZ.61 SMG, and a Savage M99 LMG, which come as promising signs for fans who are yearning for some variety.
