Modern Warfare 2 is bringing back the golden age of Call of Duty and with it comes some timeless characters that only seem to age in class. Task Force 141 will return to bask in their glory, but we've all learnt by now not to get too attached to the cast.

In years gone by, we've seen perilous betrayals lead to the deaths of Simon "Ghost" Riley and John "Soap" McTavish, both of whom will be reincarnated again in the reimagined Modern Warfare 2 campaign.

Presumably joined by Modern Warfare 2019 duo Alex and Farah (at least in some capacity), one or two of the Task Force 141 cast is on the chopping block, and fans are now trying to predict who it will be.

Fans Predict Modern Warfare 2 Characters' Deaths

While recent theories have worked out that General Shepherd will be back and up for a round two scuffle with Captain Price, other fans have begun to speculate over the fate of characters like Kyle "Gaz" Garrick and Colonel Alejandro Vargas.

In a recent poll, players have identified Vargas as the Modern Warfare 2 scapegoat, after seeing that he was revealed in early artwork.

Both Vargas and Gaz earned a lot of points, with Vargas' debut in the Modern Warfare series seemingly set for impending doom.

Many identified Vargas as a character living on borrowed time due to his expandability in the series, while Gaz's development from a non-spoken character in the first trilogy to an integral part of the Task Force appears to be a lure to pull on heartstrings before his demise.

Some fans also pointed out that Price, Soap, Ghost, and Farah are all in the multiplayer side of Modern Warfare 2, meaning that their status is alive, which canonically exempts them from being killed in the campaign.

The least-voted character comes in the way of Captain Price, who is virtually indispensable to the Modern Warfare series; should his death ever come, it will likely close the chapter and therefore would only ever happen at the end of what can be predicted as Modern Warfare 3 (2025/6).
