Call of Duty fans love pace. Speed, precision, and chaos, ever since Vanguard morphed higher-player game modes like 10v10 Moshpit into normality, players have basked in the anarchy.

It's now reached a point where many of the non-Ranked Modern Warfare 2 players prefer bigger teams to the standard 6v6 playlists, with more engagements and gunfights than usual.

So, it will come as quite the welcome addition as Infinity Ward has dug into the archives and pulled out one of the most chaotic game modes, which will arrive in Season 3 reloaded.

Faceoff is to be added to Modern Warfare 2 in Season 3 Reloaded

Twelve years after its first and last outing in Modern Warfare 3, Infinity Ward is reviving Faceoff. The game mode relies on 3v3 gameplay played on the tiny 2v2 Gunfight maps, where you will head in all guns blazing across TDM, Kill Confirmed, and Domination.

Players won't be using any of those terrible blueprints either, as Faceoff will allow for custom loadouts to be used too.

Having been held back for over a decade, the developers have branded Faceoff as the "ultimate compliment to Gunfight," where small-based respawn game modes will be precedent over round-based ones.

The news was welcomed by most. One Faceoff fan wrote, "If the faceoff maps can compete with those seen in CW, this changes the game immensely for me! :D," while another cheered, "Faceoff, game is saved."

Although only one more multiplayer map is expected to launch in Season 3, with Alboran Hatchery, the developers are also hard at work making more Gunfight maps that will also help Faceoff.

"Expect Faceoff to include all current Gunfight maps, as well as new Gunfight maps once they are released in later seasons," Infinity Ward said in a blog post.

The new game mode will release on May 10, alongside Warzone Ranked and other Season 3 Reloaded content.

Faceoff might not be Shipment 10v10, where it’s constantly raining killstreaks, but instead is set to arrive in MW2 as a game mode that puts gun skill to the test.
