LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Lets You Control The Death Star
Traveller's Tale's LEGO Star Wars games have been "building" toward something big, and now, it's all come to a close with The Skywalker Saga. For the first time ever, all nine movies have been gathered together in LEGO form - giving the epic space opera the justice it deserves.
As well as putting that classic LEGO twist on the story, there's plenty that's new. Revamping the standard LEGO Star Wars formula, it's flipped things on its head and turned the galaxy far away into more of a third-person shooter. If that wasn't enough, there are more planets than ever, a whole host of playable characters, and (better yet), the ability to summon the Death Star to your every whim.
How Can You Control The Death Star In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga?
The Skywalker Saga is only just out, but posting on YouTube, Lunar Squadron showed how you can summon the Death Star into the sky above whatever planet you land on. The supersized space weapon will then be viewable from the planet's surface. In the video, they've touched down on the surface of Coruscant, then summoned the Death Star to loom large in the sky.
If you want more from Emperor Palpatine's weapon of mass destruction, the Death Star is one of the five available Capital Ships you can use in your space battles. Budding builders can also unlock other massive ships including the Steadfast, Executor, and even the Death Star 2. There's a lot to unlock in terms of Skywalker Saga vessels.
Although the Millennium Falcon (in various forms) was always a given, you can also zoom around in Star Wars Rebels' Ghost, Boba Fett's Starship, and the iconic Tantive IV from A New Hope. To gain control of Capital Ships, you have to seize them from the force currently occupying them. Of them all though, the Death Star is one you'll definitely want to have as part of your fleet.
What Else Is New In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga?
Unlocking the Death Star can only be done once completing the main Story Mode of The Skywalker Saga, but if you're anything like us, you'll be rattling through Episode I - Episode IX in no time at all. Of course, most of us will be trying to make the most of the title's impressive catalogue of 300 characters.
Alongside 17 versions of Luke Skywalker (and an 18th as part of a DLC), there are more unusual additions like Sy Snootles, Babu Frik, and two GNK Droid variants. Back in 2006's Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, we saw the Death Star get blasted into a million bricks. Although its destruction plays into the A New Hope chapter, the fact you can summon the Death Star and then explore it is sure to be a big win for fans of the franchise.
