LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is soaring towards us at lightspeed, and we cannot wait.

The game's teasers and trailers have set it up as what could be the biggest, best, and most expansive Star Wars game yet, let alone a LEGO game. It's a big deal for fans, and though LEGO Star Wars is a point of nostalgia for a lot of players, it doesn't look like the game has many intentions of wallowing in the past, and seem to be pushing for a brand new experience that redefines what we've come to expect with an open world and supposedly seamless narrative threads.

But, that's not all - as the game is set to get some playable characters that we've never seen in a LEGO Star Wars game before.

LEGO Star Wars Reveals New Look

A new Dev Diary from TT Games has been revealed, offering a brand new look at the game coming next month, and it takes fans through the grand scope of the game.

The new video, titled "Building the Galaxy", takes fans through some brand new game footage spanning all nine films of the Skywalker Saga, led by designer Dawn McDiarmid calling the game "one of the biggest games we've ever done." Crikey.

"The planets are where this game really comes to life," says lead animator Mark Crane. "The sheer scale of this is off the chart. Being able to traverse the entire galaxy going from all of the planets you recognise from the films."

It's not just the travel and the planets that this video focuses on, as it also introduces characters that we've never before seen in a LEGO game.

Naturally, new characters from The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker are set to appear here for the first time, like the chipper little fella that is Babu Frik - but there are some surprising new additions elsewhere too.

Yaddle, a female member of Yoda's race and the face of a lot of memes is coming to the game, as well as Mama the Hutt, a character that is described as Jabba the Hutt with lipstick on.

"You'll see characters in this game that you have never seen in any of our Star Wars games," says Crane. "We created them just for this game."

It's nice to see the developers of The Skywalker Saga take some creative liberties with the Star Wars IP, as there's simply so much to explore. Either way, though, we cannot wait to jump in and explore this expansive galaxy ourselves.
