LEGO Fortnite has skyrocketed in popularity - especially its surprisingly comprehensive survival mode that gives games like Minecraft and Valheim a run for their money. However, if there’s one area where we’d say it’s currently lacking, it’s in its selection of ranged weaponry.
As it stands, the Fortnite spin-off only has a Crossbow available to pick off enemies at a distance. According to a reputable Fortnite leaker, that might be about to change very soon.
Guns come to LEGO Fortnite
Twitter user FNAssist recently posted a series of screenshots that appear to depict work-in-progress versions of some ranged weaponry that’s clearly intended for LEGO Fortnite. We say clearly because the blocky nature of the equipment on display obviously resembles those irresistible little Danish blocks of plastic.
First up is the LEGO Stud Gun, which seems as though it will adapt a more mature form of weaponry for the younger LEGO Fortnite audience. A placeholder description reads, “Fully Automatic, flexible assault rifle capable of handling all types of combat scenarios.”
It’s not clear what sort of ammunition this weapon will take. Perhaps we’ll see a new resource added to the game at the same time?
Next up is something for you Half-Life fans out there. The Gravity Gun is described as being able to pick up things and throw them at others, which sounds very much like the equivalent of the same name from Gordon Freeman’s adventures.
Given that LEGO Fortnite is already full of some pretty impressive destruction physics, we can’t wait to see how this one lets us destroy things in an even more creative manner.
Last but not least, we have something a bit more low-tech. If crossbows aren’t your style, you might prefer to use a classic Bow. There’s less information to go off of with this one, which FNAssist says may indicate it’s either a placeholder or a scrapped project.
It may well be that this was intended to be the default ranged weapon in LEGO Fortnite, but was replaced with the Crossbow to negate the need to charge up attacks.
There’s currently no word on when these new weapons might appear in LEGO Fortnite, but it’s likely to be fairly soon. It's also worth mentioning that these weapon models and their inclusion in the game may change altogether as development continues.
Epic Games has confirmed that the LEGO-fied survival game is here to stay and will receive regular updates down the line.
