If you’re just starting your adventure in LEGO Fortnite, you may be wondering what the differences are between the Survival and Creative modes in the game – so we’re here to break them both down easily for you.

Whether you’re playing alone or with friends, LEGO Fortnite has tonnes of possibilities, but knowing what both modes offer will be crucial in deciding which one you want to go ahead with.

What is Survival Mode in LEGO Fortnite?

In LEGO Fortnite, Survival mode allows you to embark on an adventure with the typical constraints of a regular survival game, including monitoring hunger, scouring for resources like Knotroot and Obsidian, and building up your village from the ground up.

In Survival mode, you have to source everything from the land you spawn in, and cannot add aspects automatically. You'll have an NPC to guide your first steps (usually Cuddle Team Leader as above, or Bright Bomber) Your inventory starts empty and you will have to gradually find and use new building, crafting and cooking recipes to survive.

What is Sandbox Mode in LEGO Fortnite?

Sandbox mode in LEGO Fortnite is the equivalent of Creative mode, allowing you to spawn any item, building, animal or resource from an unlimited inventory. In this mode, you don’t have to worry about hunger or temperature (for example, finding ways to avoid the cold and stay warm).

Additionally, you can fly across the world, as you'll see above, without having to walk everywhere. Effectively, the LEGO world is your oyster, and you can build up your world as much or as little as you like with very few constraints.

That’s everything you need to know about the main differences between Sandbox and Survival Modes in LEGO Fortnite. Whether you’re taking the survival or creative approach, always remember to read up on how to set a respawn location, so that if the worst should happen, you’ll always have a cosy bed to come back to.
