Today is the day you'll always remember as the day you almost got a dub from Captain Jack Sparrow. Epic Games is known for making coin from its pop culture crossovers in Fortnite, and while we've seen everyone from the X-Men to Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, they've usually got wide appeal and aren't too controversial... until now.

We've previously seen the likeness of Will Smith's Mike Lowrey from Bad Boys and Keanu Reeves' John Wick from the franchise of the same name. Johnny Depp is still one of Hollywood's biggest stars, while his rendition of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies has made the character a staple of Disney - or at least it had.

Is Johnny Depp Coming To Fortnite?

Given Depp's recent legal troubles and high-profile defamation case against Amber Heard, the timing of adding him into Fortnite (even as Jack Sparrow) might raise a few eyebrows. Seeing Cap'n Jack do a merry jig would fit with Chapter 3 Season 3's Vibin' mantra, but is there any actual evidence?

As Reality Trees pop up all over the map, you might remember that Logjam Lumberyard was recently turned into Logjam Lotus. Much like how we've seen the Butter Barn cycle through old POIs, Logjam Lotus has reintroduced the pirate-esque Lazy Lagoon. The nautical favourite arrived on the map in Chapter 1 Season 8 and was removed in "The End" event when it was sucked into a black hole.

Although it might sound like a bit of a leap to connect Lazy Lagoon to Johnny Depp, fans have spotted a small boat at the north of the location. Fortnite is littered with Easter eggs, and some think this is a reference to Jack Sparrow's small boat he sails when Barbosa stole the Black Pearl from him.

What Do Fans Think Of Johnny Depp In Fortnite?

If you still aren't convinced, the video points to the random inclusion of a fridge in Chapter 3 Season 2. Some theorised it was a nod to the infamous fridge scene in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Jump forward to this season and Indiana Jones is the "secret" skin alongside Darth Vader at the top of the Battle Pass.

In response to the idea of Johnny Depp being in Fortnite, opinions were split. Despite winning the case against Heard, it's clear it's a sticky wicket. One wrote, "There's no way they would add him any time soon because of the legal battles. I think it's just a fun little reference," while another added, "I don't think they would add that since, uhh, 'court.'" A third concluded, "Maybe secret skin next season? It would follow the pattern that the fridge set up." Is Johnny Depp really setting sail for Fortnite? Watch this space.
