It Looks Like Gavin Has Been Found In Red Dead Redemption 2
“Has anyone seen Gavin? I’m looking for my friend Gavin.”
If you’ve played Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ve likely heard these immortal words echoed down the streets of Saint Denis. A very British NPC called Nigel wanders down the streets of the city, calling out for his pal. If you interact with him, he’ll tell you that he hasn’t seen his friend Gavin in a number of years, and has come to the city to track him down.
Whether you love or hate this NPC (many have chosen the latter), the mystery as to where Gavin actually is has confused many.
Well, we’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is - we think we’ve found him! The bad news is he’s dead. Sorry.
Redditor Finds Red Dead Redemption’s Gavin
One redditor reckons that they’ve tracked Gavin down after all these years, but he’s not quite as… alive as we’d hope to find him.
The image shows the man in a pile, shot dead in similar clothes to the NPC calling after him, laying in the dirt. How undignified.
The original poster expanded on their find - “I just started Chapter 6, and was on my way to the widow in the North East mission. I saw X marking a dead body and went to look, though it may be a murfee brood ambush.
"When I got there, there was a guy getting off his horse to look at the body, felt scripted but idk. He didn’t have any special dialogue. But this guy has a VERY similar outfit to Nigel. I might try to take his body to a city to see if anything happens.”
It seems very convincing, and we’d be more than willing to believe that this is Gavin - but commenters on the post seem to have different ideas.
Fans Think Gavin Isn’t Real
It has been discussed in the comments of the Reddit post that this NPC can’t possibly be Gavin - because Gavin only exists in Nigel’s head. A note that can be found on Nigel’s person, written to a friend of his, mentions Gavin’s quiet nature and his richeties, and fans have suggested that this hints that he’s simply a split personality of Nigel’s, existing only through him.
It’s an interesting theory, but not one that explains the corpse in the middle of nowhere - but then again, the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is so large and sprawling, we may never know at all. Sadly, it seems like we won’t get much closure - and nor will Nigel. Sorry, fella.
