Infinity Ward
We're ready to rumble, Warzone 2 is nearly here and the ultimate Call of Duty last-man-standing scrap is about to unfold. Now, ahead of the battle royale's launch and the first season of Modern Warfare 2 action, the developers have dropped some huge intel on what we can expect.
In typical Call of Duty fashion, the devs have rolled out a roadmap for their players, who are now gathering around the laid-out plans like a middle-aged war council preparing for a siege.
Much of what the roadmap details are confirmation of things we already know, such as Shipment's inclusion in MW2 and Al Mazrah, the Warzone FC operators Messi, Neymar, and Pogba, and beta features like the new Gulag, aquatic combat, and new buy stations. But more juice has been spilt, as the Call of Duty devs have now revealed that loadout drops are back, alongside "interrogations" and a new Battle Pass.
Warzone 2 Features Loadout Drops And New Interrogation Feature
Loadout drops were the big omission from the Warzone beta, and it comes as welcome news that the devs have now backtracked on their removal by adding them to Al Mazrah upon its launch. However, they are different. "Loadout Drops will drop into Al Mazrah in the middle of Battle Royale matches," explained the devs, before saying that the given loadout drops will not be restricted to one team, and anyone can access them.
Another new in-game feature will be interrogations. Much like Fortnite's Shakedown, and Apex Legends' Ash ability, players will now be able to stand over their downed foes and submit them to reveal their teammate's locations, adding a new stick-or-twist element to waiting for a revive or hitting the gulag screen.
This new feature will likely also work the same way that Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep do, in that a wave of UAVs will ping when interrogating opponents. It's not yet sure whether this will be a live ping or not. It also makes proximity chat quite an entertaining prospect.
New Battle Pass System Is Being Rolled Out For Warzone 2
We know that Activision love their battle passes and microtransactions, and they've now rolled out a brand new system that does away with the previous 100-Tier pass.
Instead, Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 will take a leaf out of Fortnite and offer a brand-new system. The revised battle pass will still offer 100 rewards, but will instead work off 20 different "Sectors" and will allow the players to choose which rewards they want, rather than grind through the unnecessary rewards in the pass. All players will unlock tokens, and choose which of the 20 sectors they want to progress through, with five items in each category.
While the system may seem confusing at first, it will benefit players by allowing them to select the rewards they want, rather than just be handed out rubbish stickers etc. It makes getting your desired skins much easier.
The Battle Pass will roll out with loadout drops and interrogations on November 16.
