Insomniac releases statement following 'extremely distressing' cyberattack
Off the back of one of the best Marvel games ever with Spider-Man 2, Insomniac has been shaken by an "extremely distressing" cyberattack which resulted in its output for multiple years being revealed early.
The cyberattack on Insomniac is a leak on a scale that rarely seen before, leading to multiple new games hitting the public eye which would have been held tightly under lock and key for months and years to come.
Now, the studio has spoken out.
Insomniac issues public statement after cyberattack leaks
Speaking out publically for the first time since the leaks began, Insomniac has taken to Twitter to thank fans of its games for their "outpouring of compassion and unwavering support".
"We are saddened and angered about the recent criminal cyberattack on our studio and the emotional toll it's taken on our dev team," the statement reads.
The company continued to acknowledge that the leaks affected more than just the games too, with employees' personal data having been aired, and have branded this time as "extremely distressing".
Insomniac confirms the fate of Marvel's Wolverine following leaks
One of the biggest leaks in Insomniac's portfolio was spoilers for its upcoming Wolverine game, which also included gameplay footage.
However, Insomniac has now confirmed that, despite the leaks, its dev team is soldiering on with a "resilient" attitude to continue "as planned".
"The game is in early production and will no doubt greatly evolve throughout development, as do all our plans," the statement continues.
"While we appreciate everyone's enthusiasm, we will share official information about Marvel's Wolverine when the time is right."
Insomniac isn't the only company to have been hit with similar attacks, and recent news out of the GTA 6 camp might elevate the spirits at Insomniac slightly, showcasing that these leakers aren't invincible.
