Those flying fists of fury are back, as Halo Infinite has been struck by a game-breaking glitch. Previously, Halo games like Halo 2 and Halo 3 were ravaged by the super punch glitch, where players could cancel animations and perform a lightning-fast punch much faster than they're supposed to.

As the long-awaited to 2015's Halo 5: GuardiansHalo Infinite is the first entry in quite a while. Despite being pitched as a next-gen game that will really show what the Xbox Series can do, it seems the devs can't get rid of an old bug that's been haunting Halo for decades.

What is the Halo super punch glitch?

Posting on Reddit, u/CraftZ49 showed off the super punch glitch and absolutely obliterated an opponent. Apparently, there are plenty of you out there who've adopted the super punch glitch to wipe the floor with the competition.

Previously known as BXR or BXB, a specific combination of buttons allowed you to perform Melee Fire in earlier games. Throwing punches like Rock Balboa, it means no one is safe. Players were suitably impressed/shocked that BXB is back.

One wrote, "I hope we get to modify the melee speed in custom matches. Just imagine games where it’s just a mosh pit of pain and throwing hands like it’s a bar fight". Another added, "Jesus Christ, this says V I O L E N C E", while someone questioned if the game had turned Master Chief into Doomslayer. Others flooded social media with their own encounters of the super punch glitch.

Will 343 patch the punching glitch?

Remembering that Call of Duty: Vanguard is already been plagued by cheaters, two of this year's biggest shooters are looking a little rough around the edges. We're guessing 343 will patch out the super punch before long, but as the multiplayer test weekends continue, it might be sticking around a little longer.

The previous playtest ran from September 23-26 and focussed on 4v4 Arena battles. The next is live from September 30 until October 3 and includes 12v12 Big Team Battle contests. We're already covered the odd glitch where it looked like bots were teabagging downed players. Thankfully, most of the Halo Infinite glitches are largely comedic... for now.
