Sucker Punch Productions has sharpened its blades, with an interesting fact about Ghost of Tsushima. The sword-swinging Samurai game was released in July 2020, meaning you've had more than enough time to rattle through the game and achieve 100% completion. The question is, can you be bothered? Have you found every Riddler Trophy in Rocksteady's Arkham games, have you taken every photograph in Marvel's Spider-Man, and have you uncovered every bobblehead in Fallout 4?

There are two types of gamer. The ones that whip through the main campaign and quickly put the title down, while there are others who comb through every nook and cranny to get that rare 100% completion award. Looking at big titles, some games have shockingly low completion rates. According to PSNProfilesThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (30%), Red Dead Redemption 2 (28%), and Grand Theft Auto 4 (21%) all show low completion rates. Thankfully, Ghost of Tsushima is the exact opposite.

How many players have completed Ghost of Tsushima?

According to UngeekGhost of Tsushima has one of the highest completion rates of any PlayStation game. The stats speak for themselves, with 50.2% of players having polished off the war epic. It might not sound like a lot, but with over half of Tsushima's fans having fully completed the title, it's a pretty impressive feat that shows just how engaged the game's players are. This means just over half Ghost of Tsushima's players have earned the lucrative "Mono No Aware" trophy - finishing all of the main story.

With open-world games being notoriously hard to finish (we're looking at you Assassin's Creed Valhalla), it's a rarity that fans earn a 100% completion. Looking elsewhere, it's only Spider-Man that hits with a higher open-world PlayStation completion rate as it boasts 50.8%. It's important to note that while Spider-Man's marginally higher completion rate takes the crown, Insomniac Games' superhero showstopper takes around 25-30 hours to finish the main story. When you look at Ghost of Tsushima, a full completion is reportedly around double that.

What's next for Ghost of Tsushima?

The full breakdown of completion for open-world PlayStation games throws up some interesting results. If you're interested, the list reads as follows:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man – 50.8%
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins – 38.2%
  • Far Cry 5 – 36.7%
  • Days Gone – 34.7%
  • Horizon Zero Dawn – 34.1%
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – 30%
  • The Witcher 3 – 29.8%
  • Death Stranding – 28.6%
  • Red Dead Redemption II – 28.2%
  • Watch Dogs 2 – 24.9%
  • Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla – 19.8%

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and Watch Dogs 2 are fairly new on the market, so we'll excuse them for lower completion rates. However, for more established titles like The Witcher 3, it's a little surprising. As for Death Stranding, Konami's long-awaited horror proved divisive at launch, which might explain why some players simply gave up on 100% completion.

When it comes to taking the title as the most-completed PlayStation game of all time, that honour goes to The Last of Us Part II. Last year, Ungeek reported Naughty Dog's survival horror has a whopping 58% completion rate. Other big winners include 2018's God of War, the aforementioned Spider-Man, and the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Considering all of the above are record-breaking games for the PlayStation, is anyone really surprised? Now, it's just a game of wait and see whether all those rumours are true and Sucker Punch is planning to return to Fuedal Japan for a potential Ghost of Tsushima 2
