Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 6 Challenge Guide: Week 3
Challenges have become a critical part of the Fortnite experience. Challenges offer players a creative and interesting way to earn bundles of XP. Completing challenges is essential for levelling up the Battle Pass and unlocking exclusive skins like Lara Croft and Raven from Teen Titans.
Three weeks in, players are starting to get comfortable with all the new changes and additions to Chapter 2 - Season 6. Week 3’s challenges require players to put to use what they’ve learned so far. Fortnite players will need to capture and hunt down Chickens, deal damage with different types of weapons, and defeat the new AI Bosses in a duel.
Each Week 3 challenge grants a substantial 24,000 XP. Completing all seven Week 3 challenges will grant players a massive 168,000 XP.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at our Challenge Guide below for an in-depth breakdown of every single Week 3 challenge and the best course of action for completing them.
Fly 20 Metres with a Chicken (20) - 24,000 XP
Chickens are one of the new forms of wildlife introduced in Chapter 2 - Season 6. Players can grab hold of a Chicken, granting the player the ability to jump higher and farther. Players must fly 20 metres with a Chicken to complete this challenge.
Chickens can spawn anywhere on the island, but they tend to stay toward farmland areas. Colossal Crops and Steel Farm are two great places to search for these creatures.
Chickens are non-aggressive. They will actually flee when startled by a player. Crouch walk up to a Chicken to surprise it.
To begin the challenge, players will need to chase a Chicken down and interact with it. With the Chicken in hand, jump forward. Each leap with the Chicken will slowly progress the challenge. Track your progress on the Challenge Bar that pops up on the screen.
Hunt Chickens (3) - 24,000 XP
Now that you’ve bonded with your Chicken, the Fortnite developers want you to kill it. Players must hunt down and eliminate three Chickens to complete this challenge.
If you want to make things easier on yourself, craft a Hunter’s Cloak. Using two Animal Bones and one piece of Meat, players can create an item that calms all surrounding wildlife. Chickens will not run away from players equipped with a Hunter's Cloak. This will make for easy pickings.
Alternatively, players can hunt the Chickens the old fashioned way. A couple of accurate shots on a clueless chicken will drop it with swiftness.
Catch fish at Camp Cod, Lake Canoe, or Stealthy Stronghold (6) - 24,000 XP
A standard “catch fish” challenge. Players must catch six total fish at one of the listed locations.
Camp Cod is the mini-island south of Catty Corner. Lake Canoe is a small lake located north-west of Retail Row. Neither of these POIs are named on the official map, but we circled them for you on our challenge map above.
The final location players can complete this challenge at is Stealthy Stronghold, home of The Predator. Stealthy Stronghold is far north, above Pleasant Park and Coral Castle.
Players can find Fishing Rods at all three of these locations. Look near the water for barrels filled with Fishing Rods. Grab one and start reeling in the fish.
Deal damage with Shotguns (1000) - 24,000 XP
A straight-forward challenge, players must deal 1,000 total damage with Shotguns.
This is most easily done in the Team Rumble playlist. In Team Rumble, players can find a Shotgun and slay out all game without fear of dying or losing their weapon. Shotguns are debatably the most powerful weapon type in the game, so this challenge should be a fun one to complete.
Consider crafting a Primal or Mechanical Shotgun using Fortnite’s new Crafting System. Mixing a Makeshift Shotgun with Animal Bones or Mechanical Parts will create a much more powerful version of the Shotgun.
Get headshots with rifles (10) - 24,000 XP
Players should approach this challenge in the same fashion as the one above.
Team Rumble is your friend. It’s a much more casual playlist, and death has no penalty. You get to keep your gear and drop right back into the match.
With the new changes made in Season 6, the Mechanical Assault Rifle is the only rifle with first-shot accuracy. It’s impossible to guarantee the accuracy of any other rifle. They are all susceptible to bloom, and therefore, hitting headshots will be somewhat dependent on luck.
Search for a Mechanical Assault Rifle or craft one yourself with Mechanical Parts. All that’s left after that is to line up ten headshots.
Deal damage within 20 metres using a Pistol or a Revolver (500) - 24,000 XP
Another Team Rumble friendly challenge, players need to deal 500 damage with a Pistol or revolver at close range.
Damage dealt with a Pistol or Revolver will not count if the target is farther than 20 metres out. Players can ping their target to get an idea of how far away they are.
The first step is to find a Pistol or Revolver. Once you have one in hand, rush your opponents and bring the fight to them. If you die, just drop back down on another enemy's head. Continue this cycle until 500 damage has been dealt at close range.
Eliminate Raptor, Zenith, or Blackheart (1) - 24,000 XP
This last challenge asks the player to take on the role of a hitman. Players must eliminate one of Raptor, Zenith, or Blackheart.
Raptor, Zenith, and Blackheart resemble the dozens of other non-playable characters (NPCs) scattered around the island. The difference is that Raptor, Zenith, and Blackheart are not friendly. They will attack players on sight. These three NPCs are formidable opponents. They don’t go down easily, so you need to come prepared.
Raptor defends the Crash Site POI to the south-east of Coral Castle. Raptor fights with a Primal SMG and can throw grenades.
Zenith resides at the Weather Station, high up on the snowy mountain top south of Catty Corner. If he’s not outside, Zenith is typically found on the second floor of the building. Zenith battles with a Purple Scar that he drops upon death.
Finally, Blackheart roams the deck of the Viking Vessel. This massive ship can be spotted just west of Holly Hedges. Blackheart wields a Primal Shotgun, so keep your distance if possible. Standing too close to Blackheart may result in a quick death.
Defeating any of these three NPCs in battle will complete the final challenge of Week 3.
