Get ready for a "Lara, Lara" laughs, as Lara Croft finally lands in Fortnite as part of the Chapter 2 Season 6 Battle Pass. It seems like only yesterday we tipped the iconic Tomb Raider heroine for Epic Games' Battle Royale favourite, but as the story round to a close on Zero Point, it seemed like Lara's time to shine had been and gone. However, with the legendary Tomb Raider celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2021, it looks like devs have been saving Ms. Croft for an altogether more exciting inclusion.

Since 1996, Lara Croft has kept us entertained while the Tomb Raider franchise has continued to grow. Despite some middling success in the early-noughties, she was back on top form thanks to a new era that started with Crystal Dynamics' reboot in 2013. The trilogy rounded off with Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018, and while Square Enix has teased another title that will bridge the gap between the various timelines, there's no official news on what's next for Lara. To celebrate her Silver Anniversary and tide us over until Tomb Raider Reloaded comes to mobile, she's sure to be a welcome addition to Fortnite

When is Tomb Raider coming to Fortnite?

Fortnite Primal is the title of the new season, and it looks like adventure is name of the game. Epic VP Mark Rein already promised Season 6 would be "wild", meaning the intrepid adventurer should feel right at home. With a new season, it means there's a new Battle Pass, which is where Tomb Raider finds her new home. Just like the Mandalorian was the poster boy of Chapter 2 Season 6, Lara is front and centre in the Season 6 Battle Pass.

By the looks of it, you'll be able to flick between Lara's classic look (minus triangle breasts) and her rebooted trilogy aesthetic. A third style will be unlocked by completing quests and levelling up through the Battle Pass. The 100-level Battle Pass will also include Teen Titans' Rebirth Raven and Neymar Jr. further down the line. The Battle Pass is rounded off by a whole host of Fortnite faces, with Agent Jonesy continuing his mission, dinosaur hunter Tarana, a giant chicken called Cluck, Raz the genie, and Spire Assassin - who is the new Tier 100 skin.

What else can we expect from Tomb Raider in Fortnite?

With Lara being such a legend of the gaming scene, it's unsurprising it's caused her to trend on Twitter. Fans were curious about what Season 6 would bring, but alongside modding weapons and taming wild wolves, the addition of Tomb Raider to the festivities is a big win. Yes, there have been complaints Epic is too reliant on crossovers, but in a landscape that's been dominated by DC and Marvel in recent seasons, it's nice to see a break from the norm.

Seeing Tomb Raider get a Fortnite crossover is all well and good, but apart from the odd outfit change, expect Lara to play just the same as anyone else. There are a number of big gaming anniversaries in 2021, and with Resident Evil also celebrating its 25-year milestone, could we see Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine pop by as a skin? Either way, the focus on a gaming-related skin could give hope to more gaming giants arriving as skins. Who wouldn't want to see Mario or Crash Bandicoot jumping off the Battle Pass? With a fresh-faced Lara ready for action, it's time for her to draw back her bow and make the most of the map in Fortnite.
