It feels now that there are so few properties left for Fortnite to collaborate with that its ongoing strategy of pop-culture collabs could be wearing thin. But we're sure it'll find a way.

With Doctor Who and more anime characters expected to touch down on the island before 2023 is up, it's clear that dominion over every relevant property under the sun is a strategy that's still working for Epic Games - and it doesn't intend to slow down.

Still, that doesn't mean that there aren't some massive IPs that fans are still desperate to see in the game. And one new concept has shown off just how well one crossover would work.

Fan creates Overwatch x Fortnite collab mockups

One Fortnite fan has brought player dreams to life with a homemade look at Overwatch characters darting around the island. Content creator ponyraee has ported a series of character models from Overwatch into Fortnite, and fans can't get enough of just how well they appear in the game aesthetically.

Their skins seem to sync up with the design of Fortnite flawlessly, and regardless of which character ponyraee is playing, it works incredibly well. In a series of posts on Twitter, the creator has shared looks at Genji, Hanzo, Widowmaker, Tracer and D.VA among others.

The footage shows your Overwatch favourites both hanging out in the lobby and in-game with a weapon in tow.  It's incredibly impressive, and it has only made fans want it more. As usual, some might have taken their excitement a little too far.

Fans are a little too excited about Tracer's emote

We know what Overwatch fans are like, so we should have seen this coming. Along with the screenshots, ponyraee shared a short video of the ported Tracer skin performing the "party hips" emote, and as you can imagine, fans are being weird about it.

All you have to do is look at the number of bookmarks that the tweet has to see exactly what people are here for. It seems like fan excitement has been quelled by the internet being weird about it. Pack it in, you lot, or the Fortnite x Overwatch collab will never happen.
