Fortnite community divided by ‘OP’ Ultra Doom Armor

Fortnite's new Ultra Doom Armor is proving too OP for some players, but others are loving this walking boss level.

Fortnite Adds OP Ultra Doom Armor

If you've ever fancied becoming your own walking, talking boss battle in Fortnite, Epic Games is giving you the chance in Chapter 5 Season 4. As we chip our way through the Battle Pass of this comic book caper, the devs are keeping things fresh with the much-hyped Doctor Doom update.

We saw the masked menace's quests lurking in the startup screen, and while there's a Doom boss battle in Castle Doom, you'll have noticed it's only one of his Doombot minions. The big guy himself is finally here, and with it, he's got a new Mythic that's decimating those sweaty endgames.

Fortnite's Ultra Doom Armor is too OP for some

We love a good OP weapon in Fortnite, and you might remember how the car-themed Chapter 5 Season 3 was 'wrecked' by both overpowered vehicles and Magneto Gauntlets. The Ultra Doom Armor is now live in Fortnite, and if you can get your hands on it, it could be the easiest way to a Victory Crown yet.

Over on X (formerly Twitter), players are quaking in their boots at the power of the Ultra Doom Armor. Boasting increased shield and health bars of 500 when compared to the usual 100, only one player per match can become Doom's Chosen.

You can nab the armour by capturing the Isle of Doom like you would any standard loot island. Simply use the Cauldron of Power, and you'll be decked out in Victor von Doom's finery, but as the Isle of Doom only has a 5% spawn rate, it logically only appears once in every 20 games.

With 45 seconds to capture the Cauldron of Power, the Isle of Doom is becoming quite the hotspot - especially given the power it grants. As you can see from clips, you effectively become a boss battle that almost guarantees victory. This has split fans between calling it OP and telling other players to "git gud."

When JFT Realms shared footage of him being yeeted into oblivion by the Ultra Doom Armor and demanding a nerf, someone else responded, "LMAO you had no chance 😭." Others had less sympathy, with another adding, "Stop complaining, it has a 5% chance of spawning whiny child," and a third concluding, "How about no it's fun and supposed to be like that."

As well as granting 200 siphon for every kill, the armour boasts an ability to dive and cause damage, his Arcane Blast, Mystical Bomb, and laser-like Scorch Beam. It's not hard to see why some of you might be against the Ultra Doom Armor, with complaints that Fortnite has lost its way from being a standard shooter and having an overreliance on these increasingly zany Mythics.

This isn't the only complaint, with others bemoaning the general Doom quests. In particular, "Hit Players With Doctor Doom's Arcane Gauntlets" is proving to be a tricky one, especially as they can only be obtained by killing Castle Doom's Doombot. Like the Isle of Doom, the already popular POI is currently overrun with players trying to nab the one-off weapon.

As for making Thanos look like a generic Fortnite bot, remember that the Ultra Doom Armor will only be out for a few weeks. While it might be best to lie low if you're really that against this monstrous Mythic, others say it's all part of the fun. Taking out an Endgame-level Doctor Doom could be the ultimate flex, so we say, happy hunting.
