Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 needs to stop nerfing its best weapons

Epic Games is once again under fire for nerfing weapons, and in Chapter 5 Season 4, it's the turn of War Machine and Captain America's Marvel Mythics to get nerfed.

Proving this is why we can't have nice things, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has wasted no time in nerfing its best weapons into the ground. Delivering a Thanos-inspired snap to our fun, the latest round of Marvel Mythics have been struck with nerfs - just days after going live.

Part of every new season is the fun of seeing how long it takes Epic Games to balance the new features. You'll remember that the apocalyptic Chapter 5 Season 3 faced a continuous cycle of nerfing and buffing its cars and Nitro Fists, while the Magneto Gloves remain one of the most hated items we can remember.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 nerfs its Marvel Mythics

Fortnite has always dabbled with the wacky, and while Call of Duty players will lament the use of jet packs,  Doctor Doom's gauntlets, and Captain America's shield, we advise you go and play a different game if that's what you want. In a move we could all see coming, the devs have already slapped Fortnite's C5S4 Marvel Mythics with some major nerfs.

As part of the August 20 update, Cap's shield had its spawn rates hit, especially with its appearance in Rare chests dipping by 54%. The homing lock radius accuracy was also reduced by 40%, and first hit damage dropped from 60 to 50.

There was some positivity as the update seemingly stopped players from being able to hide behind the shield and stop hits indefinitely. Still, this was just the start of the nerfs. War Machine's deadly rocket assault increased reload time from three to six seconds, while environmental damage was slashed from 100 to 80.

Rounding off the pack, ShiinaBR reports that War Machine's Hover Jets (jet pack) now use more fuel when boosting, your speed has been decreased, and the reload time has been increased. This means those final circles being decked out with Cap's shield and a full War Machine kit will no longer guarantee victory.

Still, while some claim these nerfs are welcome, others claim Epic is taking the fun out of the sweaty season. Someone on Reddit wrote, "Nerfing items by decreasing their drop rate is the dumbest sh*t I've ever seen. F**k whoever at Epic for thinking it's the right way to do it."

Putting the Hover Jets specifically in their crosshairs, someone else wrote, "I don't get this nerf. The others I get but come on…we need more movement," while a third added, "The nerfs have destroyed this season. wtf are the devs doing? This season was so fun day 1 and they ruined it."

Epic has undoubtedly accepted the fact that you're never going to be able to please everyone, but with an abundance of Marvel Mythics and just as many nerfs, it feels like balancing has already gone out of the window. With some saying guns are effectively useless this season, the devs might've dropped the ball with all this Marvel madness.
