We all remember the prime days of Warzone. The battle royale game served as an honourable companion through the dark times of the pandemic's lockdowns, becoming more of a friend to a gamer than the software it was intended to be. So, with the sequel in the works, how will it ever live up to the 'OG' days? Well, despite the developer's best efforts, Herschel "Dr Disrespect" Beahm IV doesn't believe it ever will.
Having vowed that he will never set foot on Warzone Pacific ever again - or should we say Caldera after his pledge was broken by Fortune's Keep's arrival - Dr Disrespect has now shared his uneasy thoughts about the sequel too.
Whilst streaming the new map alongside YouTube companion Zack "ZLaner" Lane, Doc claimed that Warzone 2 will fail, despite being an avid fan since Call of Duty 2.
Dr Disrespect Fears For Warzone 2
As the era of Warzone 2 approaches us, Dr Disrespect has now looked past the initial launch and feared for the longevity of the title, pointing towards the limitations of the engine for the reasoning.
"I can see some initial hype," the two-time said during his June 27 stream, "but nothing like the original Warzone map and the original Verdansk. I just don’t see it. What we'll see is a slow decline." he said on-stream.
"I just don’t know if Warzone 2 is going to be the big saviour. I think there’s going to be a lot of hype. We’ll be playing it, obviously. But in terms of its legs and how far it can run, I don’t think it’ll run as far as let’s say the Verdansk energy," he continued.
Why Does Dr Disrespect Think Warzone 2 Will Fail?
Well, the Doc has a problem with the Infinity Ward engine that Warzone will be crafted on. Previously, the moustached man strapped on his red vest and fired shots at the developers for sticking with their own engine for Modern Warfare 2, claiming that his Midnight Studios game Project Moon will be better.
"To have all these resources in the palm of your hand, but to be limited by the potential of this engine, or the capabilities of this engine, it kind of sucks," he added on-stream.
"I feel like they just need to move off of it or do some massive overhaul," Doc finally suggested.
It's undeniable that Warzone 2 might not be met with the same audience as the original, however, with a more Fortnite-esque approach, there's no reason why Warzone 2 couldn't be just as successful - unless Doc's fears about the engine reign true.
