The Imperial March is playing loud in our years, as Darth Vader is poised to fly his TIE fighter onto the Fortnite map. While Star Wars crossovers are nothing new for Epic Games' battle royale, Lord Vader himself has been sitting out of the action. All of that could be about to change.

While there were once rumours we'd be getting a whole Star Wars-themed season of Fortnite, that's since been debunked. Even though we won't be jumping behind the Millenium Falcon for a whole season, there's a rumbling in the Force that Darth Vader could be the next big bad.

Is Darth Vader Coming To Fortnite?

During a recent Unreal Engine 5 showcase, eagle-eyed fans noticed some potential files for Family GuyDOOM, Indiana Jones, and Darth Vader. We've heard of Peter Griffin before, but remembering that it's never turned into anything, led many to believe that Epic is sending us down a merry path of ridicule. Now, insiders have claimed Darth Vader really is on the way.

Explaining what's on the way, trusted leaker Tabor Hill explained: "I don't think it's going to be an entire Star Wars season, but just remember the Mando." He continued, "Darth Vader should be roaming around, possibly in a Star Wars POI." The conversation quickly turned to whether Vader will be swooshing his signature lightsaber. Tabor reminded us that boss NPCs have previously dropped some ridiculously OP mythic weapons.

They added: "Do you think Darth Vader as a boss will have a lightsaber? I don't know, he could have a Star Wars-type weapon just like the Mando had, but we'll just have to wait and see." Although Tabor has a proven track record of insider knowledge, they've also claimed Freddy Krueger was on the way - with no sign of him. Either way, Tabor's claims were backed up by ShiinaBR, who is something of an FN expert.

Are We Getting More Star Wars Content?

The raspy breathing of Vader comes off the back of rumours lightsabers will also be back in Fortnite. Many have speculated that the annual Star Wars Day on May 4 would be a good time, however, Tabor reiterates that the current Battle Pass screen points to June for Chapter 3 Season 3. We doubt there would be a lightsaber event in May - only to be followed by Vader a month later.

Let's also remember Obi-Wan Kenobi is coming to Disney+ at the end of May, and we can't see Epic passing up on the chance to include the likeness of Ewan McGregor's Jedi outcast. It's great news for the galaxy far away, but if you're a Trekkie, you should probably find another game to play until someone puts Captain Picard in the item shop.
