Cue Darth Vader's Imperial March because wild rumours from the galaxy far, far away suggest that the next season of Fortnite could be Star Wars themed. With the shadow of Chapter 3 Season 1's end looming like Emperor Palpatine, we're looking at what comes next.

Following in the footsteps of Chapter 2 Season 4's Marvel madness and Chapter 3 Season 1's Spider-Man smorgasbord, we could be going where no man has gone before (sorry, wrong franchise) with Star Wars. However, there's a rumbling in the Force that all may not be what it seems.

Is Star Wars Coming To Fortnite?

Those considered Fortnite fanatics have noticed that Epic Games CEO Donald Mustard has been dropping a lot of Star Wars hints since last November. As pointed out by ShiinaBR, his latest Instagram post includes Lego from the AT-AT Ultimate Collector's Edition Set. Cue side-eye emoji.

Mustard has also shown potential nods to a bunch of famous Star Wars characters, but what if he's just a fan of the franchise? These days, we're obsessed with what Xbox boss Phil Spencer has on his shelves, but that doesn't mean everyone working in gaming is trying to hide a secret message. As the internet exploded with hype about a Star Wars-themed Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, ShiinaBR was back to debunk the theories.

In a follow-up tweet, they added: "Next season is not a Star Wars collaboration season btw. I've seen some people assume that in the replies to the tweet I posted a few hours ago, but that's definitely not the case." Although they don't confirm how they know it isn't a Star Wars season, but by the sounds of it, these are not the leaks you're looking for.

What Could Chapter 3 Season 2 Be?

Even if Star Wars is off the table, let's return to a previous theory that we could be boarding the Starship Enterprise with a Star Trek crossover. The might of Disney has helped propel Star Wars to new heights, and while Star Trek was the OG sci-fi franchise, shows like Star Trek Discovery and Picard have struggled to compete with The Mandalorian

We've previously heard the idea of a Trekkie season, and while it might seem more obscure than Star Wars, we can definitely see it working. Remember, we've already had plenty of Star Wars skins in the shop - so isn't it about time we give someone else a shot at the limelight? Ultimately, even the leakers don't seem sure about what's on the horizon just yet, so we'll keep looking to the stars with this one.
