There's a lot being said about Ash's heirloom in Apex Legends, but whether you're a fan of the design or not, one thing is for certain, if you manage to get enough heirloom shards to unlock the premium item, you'd expect it to work.

Given that heirloom shards are the most expensive items to find in Apex Legends, and can only be gathered through opening up to 500 Apex Packs, the developers have often made sure the Legend-themed items are some of the best-looking customisation features that they could imagine.

However, when it comes to Ash's in Season 16, players are not only hating the "random" nunchucks, but those who unlock them in the game are actually paying to lose.

Ash's heirloom has been found to have a major flaw in Apex Legends

After purchasing Ash's nunchucks from the Heirloom store, one Apex Legends player has found that the item actually has a major sound cue problem, making Ash more audible when she moves.

Reddit user "LisNieLada" found that having the heirloom equipped makes Ash's footsteps much louder than usual, even at crawling speed.

Of course, this means that anyone using the Ash heirloom will be at a disadvantage, given players will be able to hear her location with ease.

Players found that this is the case when walking on rock, but the effects are slightly less enhanced on grass, sand, and metal.

Apex Legends fans disappointed by 'pay-to-lose' Ash heirloom

It might not come as too much of a surprise that new items aren't as polished as they previously have been, given that EA recently laid off over 200 game testers, specifically from the Apex Legends side of the company.

It's even been enough to tip some players over the edge and ditch Ash. "As an ash main, it’s time to find a new assault main." said one fan on Reddit.

This isn't the first time that premium skins haven't been properly orientated into video games. Previously, Riot Games' stunning Oni Katana weapon skin was criticised for being pay-to-lose too, given its sheer size was giving away players' positions.
