To be victorious in a game of Gwent, you need to win two rounds in the best of three, so don't worry about losing one round. Your cards in Gwent need to last for the whole game, so if you spend loads of resources trying to come back in the first round, you may end up essentially gifting the enemy the remaining rounds. Resource management is key here, and having the most cards is almost always the best way to win, so be mindful about when you choose to start burning through cards.

There are four main decks you can build in Gwent: Nilfgaard, Northern Realms, Skellige, Scotia'tael, and Monster. While all of them are fun in their own ways, the latter two here are much weaker. To be specific, the Nilfgaard and Northern Realms decks are OP because they have access to Spy cards, which are super powerful ways to earn more cards and overwhelm your enemy, and if you want to have a chance at winning the harder games, you'll need Spy cards.

You can hold up to 40 cards in your Gwent deck, but if you want to have the most effective deck possible, you'll want to limit it to around 25 cards. This allows you to get rid of the junk and filler cards, and just go for the ones that will actually make a difference when played. This also limits the effects of RNG, giving you the best possible draws when you need them.
