Does Overwatch 2 Season 6 have a roadmap?

Unfortunately, as of this current point in time, there is no dedicated roadmap for Overwatch 2 Season 6 Invasion. However, we do have the multi-season roadmap that was shown earlier in the year, detailing the main content included in seasons five to seven, so we can see what is going to be coming in the upcoming Season Invasion.

According to that roadmap, here are the main pieces of new content that are arriving in Overwatch 2 Season 6:

  • Firing Range
  • Flashpoint (new game mode)
  • Hero Mastery
  • Overwatch Anniversary
  • Player Progression system
  • Story Missions
  • Support Hero

As you can see, there is a lot to look forward to here, which we will go over in further detail below for you.

Will Overwatch 2 Season 6 have a new hero?

It has been officially confirmed that Overwatch 2 Season 6 Invasion will have a completely new hero, who occupies a spot in the Support category.

This is fantastic news as the game can never have too many support heroes, and will likely delight any fans who can't get enough of their healing duties already. This also follows on from the release of Lifeweaver in Season 4 who was also a support, so Blizzard clearly feels as if that is an area of Overwatch 2 that is lacking right now.

In rather unfortunate news, John Cena is not the new hero in Season 6 (as confirmed by the official Overwatch Twitter), but at least the fun was there for a little while. This is all that we know about the new Overwatch 2 hero in Season 6 right now though, but we will be sure to update you when any new information drops.

Are there any new maps in Overwatch 2 Season 6?

There is not just one new map in Overwatch 2 Season 6, but two new maps - both of which are exclusive to the new Flashpoint game mode.

You will be able to enjoy the action on both Suravasa and New Junk City, which bring rather contrasting visual designs but are likely to be just as enjoyable as each other.

That appears to be all there is when it comes to new maps in Season Invasion though, so you shouldn't hold any hope out for new maps to any of the existing modes right now.

What is the new game mode in Overwatch 2 Season 6?

The new PvP game mode in Overwatch 2 Season 6 has been confirmed as Flashpoint. It is similar to King of the Hill game modes that have been featured in other games like Team Fortress 2 and Halo, where two teams will battle for control over a single area in order to rack up points.

The capture point in question will move around the map to avoid any team continuously dominating, so it is up to you to capitalise on certain areas to gain as many points as possible.

Due to this, the two exclusive maps for this game mode are likely to be much larger in scale to accommodate such a wide variety of combat areas. It might seem a little chaotic at first, but the community will quickly figure out the best routes and ways to play both New Junk City and Suravasa.

Are there PvE story missions in Overwatch 2 Season 6 Invasion?

The hotly anticipated PvE story missions are finally arriving in the form of Invasion Story Missions, where players will be able to take on various Null Sector forces with their friends.

These are likely going to be similar to other PvE experiences we have seen in the former Overwatch Archives events, but we will have to wait and see if they offer new ways to play and fresh stories to unlock.

According to the announcement tweet, it appears that there will be three missions for players to tackle on Rio, Toronto, and the long-awaited Gothenburg map. We will let you know when the modes have been officially confirmed though, so make sure to check back soon.

So, that's everything you need to know about Overwatch 2 Season 6, letting you be ready for when all of the new content drops in-game soon.
