Ultimate Team is here. With the release of the FIFA 23 Web App on September 21, players can get down to business with building their squads and getting savvy on the trade market. But, before you get too gung-ho, you will need to select a starting nation for your Ultimate Team, and your decision could be crucial to your early success. So, here's a quick insight into which starter nation pack to pick in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.

Best Starting Nations: NOT Spain

When choosing your starting nation pack in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, you'll want to bear in mind that this choice shouldn't be based on what type of team you want to build. Even though La Liga players might make for a good FIFA 23 starter team, the bundles of bronzes, silvers, and common golds you get from starter packs won't be what you're after.

While in years gone by, Spain has been the optimum choice for SBCs, many of the representatives in outlandish nations (Torres, Iniesta etc.)  that fit the starter challenges have either moved on to retirement or travelled home, which no longer makes them the optimal SBC country either.

Best Starting Nations: England

Probably the best FIFA 23 starter pack in Ultimate Team is England. With SBCs requiring players from the same league and same nation, England's mixture of four homegrown leagues (Premier League, Championship, League One, League 2) means that you'll get many strong links here. You might even get the odd selection from the Scottish Premier League or elsewhere, but there aren't many that venture too far away from home.

This makes them ideal for SBCs that require the same nations and the same leagues, which is the best of both worlds for your starting nation. You could also pull one or two decent players for your starting XI.

Best Starting Nations: Brazil

Another great choice for your FIFA 23 Ultimate Team starting nation is Brazil. Your hybrid league SBCs will be an absolute doddle with Brazil as your choice, and they bode well for the more convoluted SBCs down the line.

If you're lucky, you could even pull a low-rated player that fits straight into your actual team, given that they are the home of pace merchant wingers and technically gifted attackers.

Best Starting Nations: Argentina

The same also goes for Argentina. Both of the Latin American nations boast players dotted around the globe. Brazil would likely make a better pick for the starting SBCs, but Argentina also has many cheaper high-rated players in top leagues around the globe, which will set you up nicely for the harder starter SBCs.

Maybe even Messi comes available...

Deciding which FIFA 23 starter nation pack to pick isn't the be-all-and-end-all, but if you're quite the prominent squad builder, you'll definitely want to bear these options in mind.
