With some killer first-person melee and an expansive open world, Dying Light 2 multiplayer seems like a match made in heaven. Dying Light 2 is the bigger and hopefully better sequel to the steady cult-classic that was the 2015 original, and one aspect that this sequel could build upon is in its multiplayer. But is Dying Light 2 multiplayer coming to the game? And if so, what form will it take? Here's everything you need to know about Dying Light 2 multiplayer.

  • You may also want to check out the status of Dying Light 2 crossplay, to check up on whether you can get zombie killing with your friends.

The short answer here is that Dying Light 2 multiplayer will not feature in the game, or it hasn't been announced at this point at least.

A lot of the focus on the game's online leanings are discussed in our guide to the Dying Light 2 co-op, which will allow you to play alongside your friends. But in terms of playing against in some kind of multiplayer settings, that doesn't seem to be coming with the game just yet.

  • It might not have multiplayer, but can you at least buddy up with Dying Light 2 co-op? Find out in our guide.

A fan-favourite component to the first game was its Invasion mode, which allows players to join in players game's as a zombie and hunt them down - a multiplayer feature replicated somewhat in one of our 2021 game of the year picks, Deathloop.

However, at the time of writing we are a little over three weeks from the launch of Dying Light 2, and we have yet to hear any word on whether this fun take on Dying Light 2 multiplayer will return. The one ray of hope we have is that Techland garnered a lot of fan respect for consistently supporting Dying Light with post-launch content. The Hell Raid was the last piece of DLC, which was released a full five years after the game launched. We suspect that Dying Light 2 will see a similar level of post-launch support, and there is the hope that modes like Invasion will rear their heads once more.

That's all we have on Dying Light 2 multiplayer, but we will be sure to keep you updated if any further multiplayer aspects of the game are announced. Instead, why not check out just how much time you can spend in the game with our "how long is Dying Light 2?" guide.
