Destiny 2's Season of the Deep is in full swing, and while the depths of Titan's methane sea have captivated us for a few weeks, it's time to come up for air and celebrate Guardians with the Destiny 2 Solstice 2023 event - just in time for the Destiny 2 Season 22 and the Final Shape full reveal showcase.

Essentially a big ol' pat on the back for everything we've achieved in the game over the last few years, Solstice is an annual event that rolls around for a few weeks and offers the chance to earn some fantastic new loot.

Wondering when it starts, what you can find, and what you'll be doing? Here's our full Destiny 2 Solstice 2023 event guide.

Destiny 2 Solstice 2023 Start Date

Solstice will arrive on July 18 this year, alongside the weekly reset and a "mid-season" patch. We use the air quotes there because, well, the Season of the Deep is actually almost over.

In any case, Destiny 2 Solstice 2023 starts at 6 PM BST/10 AM PDT/1 PM EDT.

The central activity for Solstice 2023 will be the returning Bonfire Bash mode, which will once again take place in the European Aerial Zone, or EAZ.

Guardians light a central bonfire after clearing a group of Taken, and you'll need to keep slaying glowing enemies and throwing their essence into the bonfire to keep it going.

In Destiny 2 Solstice 2023, Bungie has promised a tougher run, with difficulty tuned. Given last year's Solstice was a little on the easy side, that's good to hear.

Still, there are a pair of new Solstice buffs this year to help Guardians keep the flames burning.

Destiny 2 Solstice 2023 buffs

The two buffs for this year's event are as follows (as per Bungie):

  • Firebound: When close to a fireteam member, gain increased Recovery and Super regeneration.
  • Flare: Rapidly defeat combatants to unleash waves of paracausal fire around you, dealing damage to nearby combatants.

Destiny 2 Solstice 2023 Gear: Armour, upgrades & weapon

This year, the Solstice armour has a nice black and gold look to it. Check it out below:

Solstice 2023 armour upgrades

As had been the case for a while, players can grind for their preferred armour rolls, too. Solstice Armor can be upgraded by using Silver Leaves, Silver Ash, and Kindling.

Silver Leaves can be earned through any activity, including Strikes, Crucible, and more, and they're turned into Silver Ash through the Bonfire Bash activity.

Kindling is tied to event challenges and is used to upgrade the stat roll threshold up to three times per armour piece.

This year's new Solstice 2023 weapon is the game's first Strand Rocket Launcher, but we don't have a name just yet - although it appears the weapon's perks can be found on Light.gg, a Destiny database.

Are you excited for Destiny 2 Solstice 2023? Don't forget to brush up on everything coming in Season 22, too.
