Despite rumours to the contrary, Xbox users who have been holding off on pre-ordering Modern Warfare 3 will still need to purchase the game if they want to play the game upon release.

Even though the long drawn-out Xbox acquisition of Activision Blizzard has finally completed, there are currently no plans to add the newest Call of Duty title to the Game Pass subscription service.

The game is set to release on 10 November and is currently available to pre-order.

Modern Warfare 3 is not currently confirmed for Game Pass

Since the Xbox and Activision Blizzard acquisition finally closed and became a done deal, fans of the publisher’s titles have been itching to know when the games will be arriving on Game Pass.

It seems like there will be a bit of a wait yet, with no plans currently in the works for Modern Warfare 3 or Diablo 4 to be added to the service.

The Activision Blizzard Twitter account said: “It’s awesome to see anticipation building for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III. As we continue to work toward regulatory approval of the Microsoft deal, we’ve been getting some questions whether our upcoming and recently launched games will be available via Game Pass.

“While we do not have plans to put Modern Warfare® III or Diablo IV into Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players around the world. And we anticipate that we would begin adding games into Game Pass sometime in the course of next year.”

It does, however, seem like Activision Blizzard games will be coming to the subscription service in the new year.
