WWE 2K Battlegrounds officially landed on September 18, but prior to the game's release, WWE legend Paul Heyman discussed what players could expect for any upcoming game modes. Let's take a more in-depth look at all the available modes, and how you can find the right journey for your own WWE star to take. There are 11 different ways you will be able to play the 2K Games release, so there's plenty to choose from:

  • Campaign
  • Exhibition
  • King Of The Battleground
  • Online Tournament
  • Battleground Challenge

CAMPAIGN MODE

Similar to the majority of games on the market, WWE 2K Battlegrounds starts with a campaign mode, which allows you to dive into a single-player story mode with a comic art style twist, where you travel the globe with Paul Heyman and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in search of the next global superstars for an all-new WWE brand. The player can take the form of any of the seven newly created Superstars - which include players like Jessica Johnson and Bolo Reynolds.

Along your travels, you battle fellow Superstars to achieve campaign goals, unlock power-ups, exciting new items, and various other Superstars.

EXHIBITION MODE

Within Exhibition Mode comes a range of different game types that will allow the player to 'brawl with your friends or family with up to 4-player action online or on the couch'. The Exhibition Modes are:

  • One-on-One
  • Tag Team
  • Triple Threat
  • Fatal Four Way
  • Steel Cage Match
  • Royal Rumble

KING OF THE BATTLEGROUND MODE

In King Of The Battleground Mode, the player brawls to become the Last Man or Woman Standing, with competitive levels which match up to seven other online players to see who will become the first to fling the others out of the arena. Better yet, try and stay inside the arena for as long as possible, because the longer you survive, the higher your score will be at the end. Be warned, though - the second you send someone flying out of the ring, another competitor will enter until you are the Last Person Standing!

ONLINE TOURNAMENT MODE

Online Tournament Mode is exactly what it says on the tin. Brawl online and collect a variety of rewards when taking part in time-limited tournaments. By connecting online with other Superstars, you'll be given a wide range of conditions to uphold in order to get your prizes, some even being pretty damn exclusive. After all, if you're going to BE the best, you need to have the best items to showcase your wins. The Battlegrounds is the mode for any budding players who want to prove they've got what it takes to be the next WWE 2K Battlegrounds Superstar

BATTLEGROUND CHALLENGE MODE

Battleground Challenge mode is the ultimate rags to riches story. Battle your way from the very bottom to the top, and become the legendary Superstar you know you were born to be. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is currently available to play on the PlayStation®4 system, the Xbox One family of devices, including the Xbox One X, and Windows PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch™ system, and Stadia.
