Let's get ready to (royal) rumble as WWE 2K Battlegrounds jumps in the ring for another bout of wrestling mayhem, with some of the biggest names in the business. Following the disappointment of WWE 2K20, and cancellation of WWE 2K21, Saber Interactive is trying something new with its latest spin-off.

Even though players are preparing to flex their muscles as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, John Cena, Trish Stratus, and Lita, there are plenty of other wrestlers to pick from before the bell rings.

There are 70 wrestlers available when you first boot up WWE 2K Battlegrounds, and if that wasn't enough, another 63 Superstars and Legends will be added through DLC content. In a post-launch world, you'll be able to unlock the rest for free as the game progresses.

With an all-star roster of 133 wrestlers to chuck around the arena, WWE 2K Battlegrounds has a line-up that any sporting title would be jealous of. Suddenly, Tony Hawk looks a little lonely over in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2.

Here's hoping it's more than just 'squad goals AF' that has us loving WWE 2K Battlegrounds. When WWE 2K20 came out, it was criticised for problems with everything from graphics to physics. In fact, glitches got so bad, some branded the title "unplayable". A lot is riding on WWE 2K Battlegrounds as a potential return to form, but for now, we'll have to wait and see.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds will officially drop on September 18, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia. Now you know who's on offer, there's no reason why you can't claim the title as King or Queen of the Battleground.
