Having accurate audio in a game mode like Warzone is essential for any player looking to go the distance, but many are feeling left in the dark by the worrying lack of footsteps in Season 1.

There's nothing more frustrating than being sent to the Gulag by a player that you didn't even hear, as even those with the best headphones in the world can't make footsteps magically appear.

Fans are also frustrated by the silence from Activision, as the problem continues into the latest season with no word of a fix or solution on the horizon.

Players are fed up with footsteps making no noise

As reported by Sportskeeda, a Reddit thread by user Underscorealphax was posted with the title "Silent footsteps are ruining the game," detailing their frustrations with the lack of footstep and parachute noise in Modern Warfare 3's battle royale game mode.

It appears that our frustrations are far from over, as countless audio bugs and glitches persist within each Warzone game. This ranges from fluctuations in sound to a complete lack of audio tells altogether.

One commenter argues that "there's also something seriously wrong with the way audio travels… if you're a pixel above or below the audio level it just isn't there for some reason."

That could very much be the reason why so many footsteps are evading our ears, which is inevitable in a game like Warzone, where each map is cluttered with hills, valleys, and near-limitless verticality.

Is there anything you can do?

There are, of course, perks like Flex that can help mitigate this by reducing combat noise - but some players can't even get that to work due to the perks being bugged, which only adds to the frustration.

Another user commented that they adjusted their EQ settings manually to boost the frequency of footsteps and other important in-game noises, but unfortunately, "after the last update, it went back to sh*t," so there's still no reliable reprieve.

We might all have to wait for an official adjustment to be implemented directly into the game, but in the meantime, take extra precaution when moving through the map, as you never know what might be running around the corner.
