As the console variant of Warzone has plateaued amid the launch of Urzikstan, coming to a steady halt in speed, Warzone Mobile has appeared in the rearview mirror like a roaring Lamborghini.
The handheld title has revved into gear over the last few weeks, as Activision has pushed it to pole position ahead of the green flag and a "ready, set, GO!"
But as the monster mobile title ignites its engine, it looks like the driver has shot off in haste, and Warzone Mobile has flown out of the blocks with an early release.
Warzone Mobile launches early in specific regions
Eager to capitalise on a time when the FPS genre has mellowed, Warzone Mobile was due for a release on March 21, with a worldwide launch coming sometime late in the day (GMT).
But players are now reporting that the game was set live on March 20 in specific regions, on certain models of phone, with the United States' servers being the most active.
The word on the street is that, for those who signed up early and had the Warzone Mobile app downloaded, the North American servers are now live on all devices. Apparently, Android users in the UK are also able to gear up.
The entire list of available servers is not yet clear, although it might be worth checking and getting a quick advantage over those who will be dropping in later.
Verdansk is officially back, and it's so sweet
Already, players have taken to social media to show off their glowing reviews. Popular Warzone mogul James "JGOD" Godoy gave a rather honest review of the game, saying that the title performed "seamlessly" on iPad with OBS and HDMI running, although the 90 FOV issue and some missing controller settings did hinder it somewhat.
Others have hailed the chance to play Verdansk again. Popular content creator "DougDagnabbit" said, "First thoughts after 1 game of Warzone mobile: Verdansk feels like home."
Activision did take to the official Warzone Mobile discord though to say that matchmaking and latency issues should improve as the worldwide launch rolls out in full, with servers becoming more stable the longer that the game is out.
Warzone Mobile will soon be available on all mobile devices later today, and Rebirth Island will also return ahead of its re-addition to consoles in a few days. We're back and Activision already looks like it's cooking.
