Two Classic World At War Maps Will Be In Call Of Duty Vanguard

As part of the massive 16 multiplayer map collection for the upcoming Call of Duty Vanguard release date, Sledgehammer Games will be paying homage to previous WWII based titles, such as Treyarch's World at War, by adding some remastered versions of two classic maps.

World at War, Treyarch's pre-Black Ops series title, contained some great maps that have since been outdated by the futuristic jetpack era that took over the game franchise. However, with Call of Duty: Vanguard whisking us back to WWII, the developers will be adding WaW maps to the upcoming title, according to the latest reports.

Both Castle and Dome are expected to be within Vanguard's huge haul of 6v6 maps that will be available when the game launches.

A snippet of both Castle and Dome can be seen in the Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer reveal, which aired on September 7.

Castle is a Japanese map that consists of a range of cultural buildings such as a dojo and watchtowers. Decorated with Akebono cherry trees that are typical of the country, the map is one of the brightest WWII maps to be ever added to Call of Duty, and will likely be a nostalgic blast from the past for public lobbies.

Dome, not to be confused with the Modern Warfare 3 map with the same name, is actually a small multiplayer map that is atop of the Reichstag in Germany. Old-school fans of the campaign will remember an early Viktor Reznov charging through this landscape to save the protagonist "Dmitri" before ripping down the Swastika flag to be replaced with that of the Soviet Union. As a heavily Nazi-German map, Sledgehammer has already confirmed that similar imagery will be used.

Alongside these maps, the multiplayer reveal also gave us a first look at the Warzone Pacific map which will follow shortly after the launch of Vanguard, which boasts a colourful island-based palette and POIs such as a volcano and tropical caves.

Vanguard is releasing on November 5, where the two classic WaW maps will be complemented by a range of unique designs spanning across the globe.
