The Rainbow Six series has been ticking along nicely since 1998, and following the success of Rainbow Six Siege in 2015, it's finally time to deliver the next chapter.

In tonight's (June 12) E3 announcement, we managed to get more of a glimpse of the new game: Rainbow Six Extraction

From the trailer, we know that an asteroid collides with planet Earth, which leads to an infection taking over mankind.

Bear in mind that R6 was reportedly originally going to be called Rainbow Six Quarantine, but with the obvious happening over the last 18 months, it was apparently changed. News that Ubisoft was changing the name picked up a lot of buzz online, which was only added to when MP1 showed off artwork that seemingly confirmed the game's title. However, as we all know now, it is named Extraction.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the new game, along with the new gameplay footage - and not everyone is impressed.

Another fan added:

And...

However, others loved what they saw:

A third added:

What do you think? Will you be playing the new game?

Rainbow Six Extraction launches on September 16, 2021. You can pre-order now, or play at launch with Ubisoft+.
