As the Battlefield franchise looks to make a triumphant return to the pinnacle of the FPS shooter genre, EA has revealed three Battlefield 2042 maps that will be available upon launch.

The field of battle in any game, specifically Battlefield, is one of the most crucial elements to any shooter, depicting how the game is played through combat areas and lines of sight. With a promise of having "fully destructible cities" in the upcoming title, fans have been eagerly anticipating a first glimpse of where the action will unfold.

Well, wait no longer. Three landscapes will be available upon launch, as EA reveal three Battlefield 2042 maps in the latest gameplay trailer.

Renewal, Breakaway, and Discarded will all serve as the hallmarks of the Battlefield 2042 gameplay, boasting a large range of different engagement points and styles of combat.

Battlefield 2042 Map - Renewal

Renewal is described as "an Egyptian desert with a solar array Power Station on one side and a lush Research Facility on the other," although it offers much more of an island paradise than a draught wasteland. With lush greeneries and a colourful palette, the Battlefield 2042 Renewal map is designed around a choke point where pressure and aggression will decide the sway of the tide.

Battlefield 2042 Map - Breakaway

Breakaway is the complete opposite of Renewal, in terms of its landscapes. Dunes are traded for piles of snow, palm trees replaced by huts and icicles, and ascended epicentres are swapped out for a descending glacier. Set in Antarctica, the Battlefield 2042 Breakaway map doesn't boast a holiday like its namesake would imply, although the Go-Ape elements like abseiling and rock climbing will be present.

Battlefield 2042 Map - Discarded

Finally, Discarded isn't one to forget easily. The third map will see a flooded Indian village run red after a full bloodbath onslaught. As one of the more open landscapes, the Battlefield 2042 Discarded map will have you searching every nook and cranny of the puddles whilst ducking and diving from aerial bombardments.

Oh, and there's a tornado.

All three of the revealed Battlefield 2042 maps will be available when the game launches on November 2024.
