Battlefield 6 Set To Have Fully Destructible Cities

The Battlefield franchise is renowned for its realistic take on warfare. The gameplay boasts large teams that play in extensively long games with a range of team sizes and engagement centres, replicating a real-life battle - or as close as anyone living can recapture.

Over the years, Battlefield has tried to implement a destruction method to the environment, which allows players to feel the benefits or impacts of structural damage. By having walls, bunkers, and buildings that are directly influenced by a players actions, it offers a more realistic encounter than if there was no damage caused to surroundings. Instances such as collapsing walls, dirt tracks left by tanks, and craters from explosions all combine to add a different element to each game.

With Battlefield VI (6) now in development, it appears that the developers are looking to punch holes into uncharted territory and have a fully functioning environment that can lead to the destruction of whole cities.

EA previously stated that the next instalment will feature "maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level".

Now, reliable leaker Tom Henderson has hinted that whole cities will fall in Battlefield VI lobbies.

With an image of a toppling skyscraper in an early look at Battlefield VI, the leakers comments of "It started with one and ended up with many" suggest that other surrounding buildings will also be reduced to rubble and dust in an ever-changing landscape.

The next instalment has also been reported to be host to one of the largest team battles that gaming has ever seen, so with an ever-changing environment, EA is certainly looking to up the ante this year.
