We're getting squad goals AF, as James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is officially coming to Fortnite. Task Force X is ready for action, with Epic Games hosting an official crossover event that will focus on Idris Elba's Bloodsport.

While Chapter 2 Season 8 of Fortnite has brought the crossover chaos with the likes of Rick Sanchez and the upcoming arrival of Superman, it sounds there are more comic book characters on the way as the Suicide Squad tools up for battle.

What is The Suicide Squad and Fortnite crossover?

Posting on Twitter, James Gunn managed to wrangle Idris Elba for an intro video. Talking about the upcoming crossover, Elba explained, "Idris Elba here, get ready because Bloodsport is coming to the island and he'll be going full-scent".

Although The Suicide Squad is a soft reboot of David Ayer's Suicide Squad from 2016, OG stars like Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, and Margot Robbie are back in action. With Will Smith sitting this one out as Deadshot, Elba was originally tipped to take over as the sharp-shooting mercenary. Instead, Elba is a new addition as Bloodsport.

Interestingly, Bloodsport's arrival could be tied to Superman joining the Season 7 Battle Pass. In the comics, Robert DuBois was a war-obsessed military man who is tricked by Lex Luthor into thinking Superman is his enemy. In The Suicide Squad, Bloodsport is serving time for shooting Superman with a Kryptonite bullet, meaning this could come into play with his Fortnite arc.

When is The Suicide Squad coming to Fortnite?

Bloodsport's teaser video doesn't confirm when he'll jump off the Battle Bus, however, we're promised an update today (July 29). We know Bloodsport will be arriving alongside his own event, suggesting there will be the usual competition where a lucky few can try and win his skin, followed by a general arrival in the shop.

Fortnite is no stranger to Suicide Squad additions, thanks to Harley Quinn being a regular of the shop. Elsewhere, other DC favourites like Poison Ivy, Aquaman, Batman, and Catwoman have all made their mark on the map. With Harley and now Bloodsport coming to Fortnite, could more teammates be on the way?

We've seen a recent run on supersized skins thanks to Marvel's Thanos finally landing in Fortnite, but just imagine the potential of a King Shark skin. Finally, The Suicide Squad crossover, Superman, and the Batman/Fornite: Zero Point comic could all lead to a potential Chapter 2 Season 9 narrative. Personally, we're just hoping for a Batman who Laughs skin that'll give everyone nightmares.
