Fan castings can be a sometimes toxic place. While we love the idea of Christopher Judge playing Kratos in a live-action God of War series, we have to accept that he might not be the man on Amazon's radar right now.

It's much the same over at HBO, with its live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us poised to be one of 2023's big hits. We know Game of Thrones alumni Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal are bringing Ellie and Joel to life on the small screen, but even now, some aren't happy.

Why Do Fans Want HBO To Recast Ellie In The Last Of Us?

The Last of Us isn't even out yet, but that hasn't stopped viewers from looking at its future and a potential second season. Given that season one looks like it'll only cover part of 2013's first game, we're hopeful it'll extend beyond its nine-episode run.

With 2020's The Last of Us Part II having a five-year time jump, there are concerns that Ramsey won't be able to hold down the role of Ellie. It's a strange turn of events considering no one is bothered about Pascal's 20-year jump between the prologue and main events.

If HBO were to recast Ellie, one fan has championed Warrior Nun's Alba Baptista as the perfect Ellie. The tweet soon took off, with many echoing their sentiments.

"Honestly yes and her personality would absolutely fit too," cheered one, while another added, "This is perfect, FIGHT ME." A third concluded, "They wouldn't have a hard time finding adult Ellie anymore because alba baptista is the embodiment of it. Plus her acting chops are stellar."

Should HBO Recast Ellie?

A synopsis for The Last of Us confirms that there's scope to adapt Part II in season two, but we'll have to wait and see. Even then, it doesn't mean we need to recast Ellie. There's likely to be a pause between seasons, so a five-year-jump likely won't make a difference.

Importantly, another HBO series proved time jumps don't matter. House of the Dragon might've recast its child actors several times, but it kept mainstays like Matt Smith and Paddy Considine without worrying season one spanned around 20 years.

Even if Ramsey is recast, we could see her return in some way. House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock was a standout as young Rhaenyra, meaning there are calls for her to play the part in season two. Looking at how much hype went into casting Pascal and Ramsey, here's hoping the latter can stick around a little longer.
