The brutal brawler of Tekken has been treating fans well, with the debut of Tekken 8 raising the bar for the technical yet deeply unserious scrapper that players feared they'd already seen the best of.

Fighters have been hooked on the game since it launched, and even as the fighting genre wins big with Street Fighter 6 launching in a similar timeframe, the Tekken diehards have no reason to look elsewhere for their thrills. Aside from a few angry tweets about the game's Fight Pass, it's all in Bandai Namco's new package,

Even so, players are looking to the future of Tekken 8 - and it's safe to say they're going to be pleased with what comes next.

After the appearance of Eddy Gordo as Tekken 8's first DLC fighter, the Bandai Namco team has revealed a brand-new content roadmap for players to look forward to. It has been confirmed a new fighter will be stepping up to the plate as part of the next string of updates.

Returning to the franchise is Lidia Sobieski, the Prime Minister of Poland (don't ask, we don't know why politicians are getting in these fights either), who first appeared in the franchise in Tekken 7. Lidia will be back this summer, with early access being offered to players with the Character Year 1 Pass.

It doesn't end with Lidia, though. The updates will bring the new Seaside Resort stage and photo mode in the summer, and a new story featuring Eddy Gordo will be introduced in autumn. In the months following, there are also plans to introduce Ghost vs. Ghost and Online Practice modes.

This makes it an exciting time to be a Tekken fan, especially as the return of Lidia implies that returning characters could be a fun and recurring theme in each of these new updates and roadmap reveals. The future is bright for Tekken 8, and players couldn't be happier about it. It's hard to blame them.
