Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 are in a dark spot at the moment when it comes to cheaters, with bad actors consistently ruining matches.

RICOCHET has been slammed by the community and while big improvements were added to the anti-cheat recently, it seems to have only made a minor difference.

For a while, console fans assumed they were safe if they turned off crossplay, but that no longer appears to be the case.

Hackers have infiltrated PlayStation and Xbox lobbies, with super-speed Riot Shield cheaters causing havoc and one-hitting anyone in their path.

Riot Shield hackers are causing absolute chaos in Warzone

Taking to the CoDWarzone subreddit, user silverhawk77 decided to showcase their experience facing a "Team with Riot shields running at max speed and one hitting people."

The hackers were causing absolute chaos in the match, running at high speeds while taking no damage, so there was effectively zero counterplay.

If that wasn't enough, their shield's power had been boosted so a single melee hit will one-shot anyone in their path. This meant all they needed to do was get close to an enemy and it was lights out for them in the blink of an eye.

They even decided to run smokes so they could cover their approach, just in case any sharpshooters attempted to snipe them when they were out of cover.

The most concerning part about this clip isn't the hacking itself, it's the fact that this all took place in a PlayStation 5 lobby where crossplay was turned off.

That meant no PC competitors should have been able to enter the game, significantly reducing the chance of a hacker being in the match.

As a result, PC cheaters have either found a way to infiltrate lobbies with crossplay off or as suggested in the thread, the Riot Shield users have got access to a PlayStation dev kit.

Either way, this is a major warning for console players and a reminder that the crossplay button cannot save you from the third-party software takeover.
