Stock problems have plagued this generation of gaming, and a severe lack of hardware has underscored console launches with immense disappointment and punishing FOMO. The arrivals of the Xbox Series X|S and the PS5 has been rocky at the absolute best of times, and disappointment has wracked many fans and kept them out of what is set to be the greatest generation of gaming yet. Fans just want to give companies their money, but they’re not having it.

After fan outcry and a lot of push behind the scenes, it looks now like finally, the trouble could be coming to an end, and the CEO of Sony has weighed in on what could be a game-changer for fans.

Sony Confirm More PS5s Are Coming

In defiance of recent stock reductions, Sony CEO Jim Ryan has finally confirmed an increase in PlayStation 5 console production will be coming this year. In an interview with WIRED, Ryan has revealed that Sony is now gearing up to increase console production this summer, and he expects that it will alleviate stock problems for stockists and fans. He also confirmed that Sony isn’t engaging in artificial scarcity and that the console’s stock problems are based on genuine production struggles.

Fingers crossed that this move will help to remedy the stock problems of the console generation and that it’ll put the pesky scalpers that have profited from the reduced stock out of business soon enough.

It’s unknown if a similar agency is powering Xbox production behind the scenes, but we can only hope that they have a similar attitude and are able to increase stock production.
