When it comes to the Alien movies, chances are you fall into one of two camps. You'll either prefer the closeup claustrophobia of Ridley Scott's Alien from 1979, or love the bombastic action of James Cameron's Aliens from 1986. One of the big differences is that Aliens (obviously) had multiple Xenomorphs in it.

Creative Assembly tried to merge these two worlds in the terrifying Alien: Isolation, as the daughter of Ellen Ripley is stalked around a doomed space station. More aliens definitely mean more bloodshed, and that is exactly what one Alien: Isolation superfan is doing with the pulse-pounding mod in time for Halloween.

What Is The AlienS: Isolation Mod?

The clue is in the name of the "AlienS: Isolation" mod, but basically, it's a case of the more the merrier on the Sevastapol Station. Over on NeuxsMods, you can download Vyr0511's mod, which will make Creative Assembly's notoriously hard survival horror even harder. Alongside tougher androids and intuitive Xenos, there's the mere fact there are more of them.

The mod's description explains it overhauls several existing mods and combines together for a palm-sweating experience. The OP intends to improve the mod this year and next (with new challenges along the way), but the crux of it is that the number of Xenos has been cranked up from anywhere between two and five.

There are three levels of difficulty, with the True Nightmare option sounding night it would finish off even Ellen Ripley in Alien: Resurrection. The "lite" mode adds just a few more Xenos, whereas True Nightmare has five in most locations, improved alien AI means they can see you through windows, and they can even get you in previously safe areas they couldn't access before.

Is There An Alien: Isolation 2?

Sadly, it looks like gruelling mods are the best you're going to get in terms of an Aliens-inspired Isolation sequel. Although there's been plenty of talk about moving the story forward, there's only been the spinoff Alien: Blackout mobile game and a web television series. As Isolation was such a good idea that expanded on the canon of the franchise, it would be a shame to leave it here.

Now that Creative Assembly has moved onto a mysterious game that some think could do the same with the Predator movies, our hopes of Alien: Isolation 2 have been dashed. We've had middling outings like Aliens: Fireteam Elite, while the jury is out on whether Aliens: Dark Descent is the game we've been looking for. Still, the likes of the AlienS: Isolation mod and one fan's Unreal Engine 5 remake have us begging for more.
