Saints Row Are Teasing A Reboot
The Saints Row series has been away for far too long. Though the series went hard on its silliness in its later titles, it was a genuine contender for the open-world crime sim crown against Grand Theft Auto.
It did finally get the chance at originality when it embraced the inherent daftness that players find in the genre, giving players the chance to turn blue, strip naked and slap NPCs with rather... inappropriately shaped bats. Saints Row went totally mad and threw anything at the wall in hopes that it'd stick - and in most cases, it did. After all, not many games can say they have a working dubstep gun that completely thematically suits its world.
But now, it looks like a new take on the series is on its way.
Saints Row Reboot Confirmed
Oh, yes. The chaotic super-powered sandbox title Saints Row is getting a total reboot.
The official Saints Row website has completely changed, revealing nothing but an image of a wall with "Rebooting" sprayed on it. It's got a lot of people talking, but we know what this means - we're getting a new instalment in the game's series that is likely to be a whole new take on the mythos and world of the Saints.
Plus, we don't need to worry about when the reboot is getting its official reveal, as a gaming legend has reported when we'll get our first look at the new Saints Row game.
Geoff Keighley Announces The Saints Row Reboot's Reveal Date
More details have also been revealed by Geoff Keighley, the face of Gamescom and Summer Games Fest.
He has shared a video of the same 'rebooting' image in video form, suggesting that the game will see its reveal at Gamescom this Wednesday.
The reveal is coming at 7PM BST, so keep an eye on the Gamescom stream then for more info.
Saints Row has a pretty dedicated fanbase, and to know that a new game in the series is getting a reveal incredibly soon is very exciting. We can't wait to take to the streets in our neon supercars and inflate civilian heads all over again.
